JD Vance in India LIVE: The four-day visit of the US Vice-President comes two months after PM Modi held talks with Trump at the White House at which tariffs of 26 percent on India were announced.
JD Vance India visit live updates: It was welcomed at the Palam airport with the family by US Vice President JD Vance on Monday; the visit of JD Vance is the first official visit to India, and he is scheduled for four days from April 21 to 24. This follows an official trip to Italy.
JD Vance came to Delhi at about 9:30 am and straight away with his wife, Usha Vance, and their children: Ewan, Vivek, and Maribel, headed to Akshardham Temple. He meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday at the latter’s residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. Besides Delhi, Vance will visit Jaipur and Agra on Tuesday and Wednesday before leaving on Thursday morning.

The timing of JD Vance’s trip to India, in which the global trade war now finds itself, could be considered crucial because the US has announced terrifying reciprocal tariffs on several countries around the world, including India.
PM Modi and JD Vance discussed several bilateral issues, including trade, during the meeting. JD Vance has visited India only a few weeks after Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, flew to India for a geopolitical conference.
During the visit, JD Vance was accompanied by his wife, Usha, their children, and other senior members of the US administration to meet PM Modi. On Tuesday, JD Vance would be in Rajasthan’s Jaipur to visit Amer Fort. The family of the US Vice-President will depart for Agra early on April 23.

Suvarna Mahal is one of the restaurants within Rambagh Palace. It occupies a prime position in the ballroom, dating back to the 18th century.
People of Usha Vance’s ancestral village express excitement over her India visit
The people of Vadluru village in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh felt elated that Usha Vance, wife of US Vice-President JD Vance, was visiting India along with her family. Vadluru is Usha Vance’s ancestral village.
”We all came to know that Usha came to Delhi today. So, on behalf of the villagers of Vadluru, we are looking forward to her visit to the village to see her ancestors, temples… All of us are waiting for her,” said villager PV Ramanaiah to PTI videos.
Usha Vance’s plans do not include a trip to Vadluru, leading locals like P Srinivasa Raju, a former sarpanch of the village, to hope to be better prepared next time, said a PTI report.
Defining the partnership of the 21st century, PM Modi on India-U.S. ties
India and the U.S. on Monday welcomed the negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement witnessing “significant progress” as PM Modi and U.S. VP JD Vance discussed strengthening cooperation in energy, defence and strategic technologies.
Negotiations for the first tranche of a trade deal, dealing with the issues of tariffs and market access, as well as cooperation within the general framework of the bilateral comprehensive global strategic partnership formed the agenda between Modi and Vance when they met in the evening on Monday at the Prime Minister’s residence.
JD Vance in Jaipur today
On April 22, the Rajasthan governor and chief minister will host a formal welcome for Vance and his family, who are then slated to visit Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar, City Palace and Hawa Mahal.
Tuesday afternoon, on April 23, 2023, Vance is to present a public lecture at the Rajasthan International Centre, following which he would meet with some political and business leaders.
It is anticipated that Vance would discuss priorities for India-U.S. relations under the Trump administration. Conference participants will include diplomats, foreign policy experts, Indian government officials, and academics.
